Every snowboard is built using state-of-the-art design and processing tools, such as numerical control machining centers to cut and prepare materials, and an artisanal assembly and finishing method, with a precise control of gluing, heating and cooling times and temperatures, in order to blend them perfectly and get the best of their properties. It is a process where hands and eyes are still the protagonists, following step by step the realization and checking the quality.
The on-site and indipendent production of all the SandyShapes snowboards allows to have the total control of each construction phase, carefully choosing and optimizing all the materials and energies, and limiting waste. The boards are developed trying to reduce plastic as much as possible, using bamboo for sidewall and spacers, and dimensioning all the components in favour of natural materials. In addition to this, we have the creation of the Wood Evolution patent, that allows to use natural wood also in the topsheet. Thanks to all these features, a Sandy Shapes snowboard is also 15% lighter than the average board.
In the Sandy Shapes boards wood returns to be the protagonist. It is not only a tribute to the origins of this sport, but an encouragment for a different way of practicing and living it. Wood is a material used since prehystoric times, in which man trusts, it is a living and organic material but also very strong and durable. Thanks to its natural diversity, each piece of wood is unique and so are the Sandy Shapes snowboards. But at the same time, wood doesn’t changes during the years, it has a timeless beauty that goes beyond the trends and seasonality.
