Why Sandy Shapes Snowboards?

Sandy Shapes snowboard is a pursuit, a continuous search that takes shape in our boards but stems from our personal passion and involvement in the snowboarding culture and from the love for our planet where we can express it.
Our commitment is to raise the standards: to design and create snowboards that are unique thanks to the sustainability dedication, the Italian fine craftsmanship and the constant search for innovation.

Sustainability at the center

The concept is simple: (environmental) sustainability is part of us. We would not be here to produce and sell snowboards on which we base our lives if we did not have our planet at heart. We could not continue to live the mountains and pursue our outdoor activities if nature is compromised or destroyed by humanity itself. If we want to continue doing what we love and allow future generations to enjoy the same opportunities, sustainability must be our foundation.

Obviously what we do also has an impact on the environment, such as snowboarding and everything that revolves around it. But our duty and commitment as a company is to reduce this impact to a minimum, and to use snowboarding as a means of sharing a message and pushing for its increasingly conscious and sustainable practice.

Being a completely local and independent production we have an advantage, we can afford more radical and faster choices. For us, quality does not compromise with quantity, and is essential for sustainability.

We have total control of each construction phase, we can experiment, carefully choose the materials and optimise them, limit and personally manage the waste and wastes, time and energy.

But the most sustainable choice is also the one that gives greater durability. Ours is a continuous research into the material and technology that allows us to make a product that is as durable and as easy to repair as possible therefore making it more sustainable.

We want to create objects that are timeless.
Because we dedicate our time to this research, not to following fashions and seasons. We have no collections and the innovations we make to our products are functional.
Thanks to its natural diversity, each piece of wood is unique, and at the same time does not change over the years, it has timeless beauty. So in our snowboards wood takes a leading role again: it is not only an aesthetic factor, it is the choice of a symbolic material, a tribute to the origins of this sport, and an encouragement to a different way of living and practicing it.

Italian design has always been recognised all over the world for being ‘well made’; in our work we try to honour this principle and cultivate it in every aspect.

The pursuit of performance starts from us, from our decisions, and extends to every phase, from the design to the choice of materials, passing through production, to get to the final product and its sale and use. We believe that the final result is achieved when there is performance throughout the system, at every stage of the process and by the people who participate in it.

The artisan skills linked to the competitiveness of the Italian industrial system have allowed us to create a company that stands out on the global scene.

We build snowboards using the latest generation of design and finishing tools, using numerically controlled work centres for cutting and preparing materials, but through an artisanal gluing method where man’s hands and eyes are still the key factors, following the production step by step and checking its quality several times during the process.

The added value, thus generated by the combination of competence and technology, cannot be reproduced in industrial production processes but in those of the traditional craftsman.

Being people is at the center of our work.
We are not a artisanal workshop, but we are not even a large industrial reality. We can still afford to be a group of people, with ideas and passions to share, before identifying ourselves as workers with skills.

What we do does not start with an industrial logic.
We do it above all for ourselves, and it comes from our personal interest and passion for the world we live in. If we are not satisfied with what we do, how can we think of transmitting something we care about to others?
Our products therefore become a means of trying to share culture, passions and emotions, to also engage in a dialogue, discover the wishes and needs of others.
Years spent on the slopes testing and above all to listening to the riders and their needs: all the boards have their own history and a path from which they have been developed, in a constructive philosophy that starts right from the people.

The ultimate goal is to be able to do good in what we do, to have an impact that is positive for the environment but also for people.
